Alex's interest in animation stems from years of playing drums in many different bands. After getting into the trance scene his attention moved away from kit drumming. Eventually he began to notice a link between loop-based electronic music and animation cycles. Through animation he could put his understanding of rhythm and timing to a new use. Alex became fascinated with the way trance musicians were layering sounds so he developed techniques to layer animation loops to match individual sounds in a track. In this way he hoped to capture the vibrant energy and atmosphere of trance music. In essence the idea was to do the same thing musicians where doing with sequencers but with visuals. Alex spent several years developing his skills in both traditional and 3D computer animation and created a unique style blending 3D computer art with 2D linework. With his animation system in place, Alex teamed up with Dusty and the Syncrosect project was initiated...
